Dell Inspiron 1000 power issues, please help.

Question

I have a Dell inspiron 1000 and can not get it to turn on. It has been sitting for about 5 months with out being used. I tried charging the battery and nothing happens. When I connect the ac/charger cord to the wall the green light on the cord comes on but as soon as I connect it to the back of the laptop, the light starts to flash. I ordered a new battery today. What else do you think could be the problem? And what do I do about fixing it? Thanks for the help. Andrew

Thanks for the quick responce. This may sound like a stupid question, but what kind of adapter can I use? If it is the mainboard, what do I do about fixing it?Thanks

Try another AC adapter - if it does the same, the mainboard is faulty.

You need to try another Dell adapter. If that shows the same fault, start shopping for a new system; a mainboard replacement, at $400 or more, isn't worth it for a low-end model like this one.
