Dell SP2208WFP monitor shows uneven lighting on black background

Question

I recently purchased a Dell SP2208WFP 22' monitor and for the most part am very happy with it with the exception of one particular issue.  There is signification light leakage around all of the edges most visible on dark backgrounds.  Not only that but about 1/3rd of the right and left side of the panel on a black background is an almost milky grey color.  It is particularly noticeable while watching TV and really takes away from the experience.  I have contacted tech support about this issue and they assure me it is normal for this monitor, yet of all of the other LCD monitors I have seen/owned - none have exhibited this kind of issue regardless of the price/manufacturer.  Unfortunately I do not have a high quality camera capable of capturing this event.  Do I perhaps have a faulty monitor?  And if this is by design, why?  I am still within the 30 day refund/exchange period.  Should I request a replacement monitor?   Your help is greatly appreciated!

its called backlight bleeding. u can call dell to send you a replacement since you are within the 30day period. see whether the new monitor has this problem.
