The BIOS update takes no longer than 2-3 minutes. 

 

Be careful in buying RAM for this system - max is 256M on a single DIMM, which MUST be low density.

Thanks for your reply..now.. I've got a couple of 256/133's which the Crucial web site says should fit...but it's obvious that its probably an older type of memory..what should I look for on Ebay (only place I'll get it)... the other puzzlement is that I have got the original 128 memory in it,but the bios update just wont run. Any ideas ??

What are you using to update the BIOS?  Floppy?

I just stuck the download on to a memory stick  via usb... opening window comes up but wont run.

You can't boot the system from a USB key - you will need to prepare a bootable floppy or a bootable CD.
