Try removing the cartridge and reinstalling.  Also clean the contacts on the back of the cartridge and in the printer with alcohol.  If that doesn't fix it only two possibilities the color cartridge is defective or there is a hardware problem in the 962.  Unfortunately this problem does show up in both Dell's and Lexmark's (Lexmark makes Dell ink-jets). 

 

Ink cartridges have an IC chip inside and one of it's tasks is to identify the cartridge model to the printer.  If the IC is corrupted the problem you are seeing can occur.  Obviously a hardware problem in the printer can also happen that it's not interpreting the cartridge type correctly.

 

If this is still in warranty or extended warranty, contact Dell support.
