Ghost Keyboard and Mouse issues on Dell Inspiron 1501

Hi,   I am having two problems, which may or may not be related. One occurs only in a few circumstances, mainly when I am attempting to play a few high graphic games, Euro Maplestory, and The Sims 2, and I believe they are the same problem. In the former, every time i go into my login screen it becomes spammed with the = character, as if it was being pressed continously while I am trying to log in. In the sims I have an issue which I think is from the same key, where things get unselected, and I suspect this is due to my keyboard since diagnostic checks keep getting aborted with the message that i pressed a key to exit.  So far this issue has not expanded to other programs. It also closes aspects in the control panel, mainly the 'what's this?' clickable options in windows.   The second is that while typing my cursor will suddenly move somewhere else into the pane. When this happens I am not touching either my touchpad mouse or any external mouses I have plugged in (I've checked to be sure).  This happens in any text window, and has indeed happened already once in this post. Both my drivers say the devices are running properly.    While I am fairly sure I am still in my year warranty period, I am currently living abroad, and this is my only means of communication to my family at home and much of the people I need to contact locally, so I can't send it back to the factory for a replacement. I am hoping there is some sort of troubleshooting I can do to clear up these two problems.   I am running an Ispiron 1501 laptop with XP.  I am running the standard keyboard and mouse.

Have you ever spilled something on the laptop before?   Since you are still in warranty, call Dell and request a replacement keyboard.

No, as far as I know there has not been any liquid damage to my keyboard.
