As I already wrote in another thread...

I will accept:

1. A full refund, since I took DELL's advice and waited. (I bought the monitor in mid March)

2. A new revision that fixes the left side brightness issue.

I absolutely require:

1. A statement from DELL regarding the left side brightness issue.

2. A confirmation that it is a known issue and a defect.

I am past my 30 satisfaction guarantee, as I stopped exchanging after my 5th monitor, will I be able to get a full refund? I'm in Europe. I do not understand how this monitor meets all the industry standards, since when white is supposed to be pink, is that an industry standard, oh, and having one side on a dark grey background looking like it's almost white is an industry standard too?

This is my first monitor ever and after reading so much about how good Dell's monitors are I am veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery disappointed, especially when I paid twice as much as the monitor costs in the US.

I do not have my 2408 (yet) it arrives tomorrow :( so I wil check you website then, what I wanted was someone to take a photograph of the white banding on their 2408 monitor so I can see the extent for myself and compare it to my 2408 when it arrives tomorrow.... :)

thanks

I agree with you completely KoBo. I have sent out a return for full refund request yesterday and today and it is within the 30 day money back guarantee. I cannot live with the issues that plague this monitor and when I read that revision A01 wont even fix the left side of screen brighter than the right side of the screen issue (A MAJOR ISSUE) I decided that was it--I must return this monitor. I was hopeful that A01 would fix this problem but Dell has remained quiet about this issue and so to quote KoBo:

I will accept:

1. A full refund, since I took DELL's advice and waited.

2. A new revision that fixes the left side brightness issue.

And to add too it:

3.) A new revision that fixes the lower left corner of the screen having a pink tint to it.

I am very disappointed with DELL...

Thanks Gary Coyle, for the every good example of the left side brighter screen. My 2408WFP shows it perfectly.

Hi Boyd, now im a semi pro photographer who is using my screen in portrait mode, can you imagine how disturbing it can be for me.

Hello Gary, I certainly can. This means you have the lighter portion of the screen at the top. This would really cause editing issues for a person such as yourself, to try and work with photograph editing. Since I am visually impaired, I knew about this issue but it did not, and does not, cause me problems. I can hardly see the monitor screen anyway. That is the main reason I purchased this monitor for the 3,000 contrast ratio. Even with my impaired vision, the brightness of this monitor causes me great eye strain. I have attemped to darken if but when I do, the images on the screen seem to just wash out so I have to leave it at 50% brightness. I may have to go in another direction with this monitor because I have been using it for about 3 months now and I am unable to get used to it. I know Dell is ignoring the problems with this monitor and hoping the issues will fade while offering to do bandaid fixes, but seems not in a big hurry to even do these.

I had a 2407WFP that lasted all of 8 months and died. I had a 3 year warranty on it. I called Dell support and was advised they would replace it with a refurbished monitor which was unacceptable to me. I conveyed this to the Dell support person and was advised that was Official Dell Policy. Still unacceptable. I contacted several other Dell support people until I got someone to replace my dead 2407WFP with a new one and not refurbished. Well, wouldn't you know, I was sent a Dell 2408WFP, along with all the issues associated with it. Now I am not much better off than when I had the 2407WFP except that I do have a screen that I can see, although one that I can hardly use, whereas I had a black screen on the dead 2407WFP.

It took Dell until RevA04 before they got the 2407 almost right and abandoned it, so does anyone really think the 2408 REVA01 willdo anything other than appease a few users who unlike most of us arent bothered about complaining.

Jimmy,

It appears obvious, that at this point in time, Dell Legal is advising not to admit there is a hardware defect with the 2408 A00.  Anything in A01 will be "feature improvements" based on user feedback.  It could still address the unanswered questions we are concerned about but Dell doesn't want to admit to them at this time.

When July comes along and we initiate an exchange let's assume that it does not fix the big unaddressed problems and we are still unhappy with the replacement.  Will Dell accept returns from those customers for a full refund?  Many of us decided to keep the monitor past the normal return period based on the expectation that Dell would resolve the problems in A01.  I realize that Dell would not have to accept returns, but it would show that you care about your customers.

Thank you.

Here, you can see the issue. It's not a 2408WFP. It's an Eizo HD2441W with same panel that the 2408WFP...same panel, same issue.

This issue is present on each and every 2408WFP A00. It seems A01 revision will NOT fix the issue.

And meanwhile Dell remains in silence.

Actually, I believe the samsung 245T which uses the same panel does not have this left brightness problem. Have any of you seen it?

As I wrote earlier, I had a Samsung SyncMaster 245T and to the best of my knowledge, from using for about a week, it did not have a bad washout/brightness issue on the left side or anywhere else. Also it did not suffer from from black crush like the older 244T. Unfortunately as much as I liked the image on the 245T it emitted an intolerable buzzing noise and it seems that this issue is as prevalent on the 245T as the washout is on the Dell 2408WFP. The Samsung 245T clearly uses the same panel with much greater success than the Dell 2408WFP.
