Where did it ship from?  Tennesse by any chance?  Also are you located in the US?

Tell me if you're successful in getting an exchange. I've been in 4 chat sessions and 4 phone calls since monday morning - and now 2 emails and still nowhere: The first hurdle was to get each of them to understand that my monitor DOES not have a service tag because it was bought separately from a system. The second hurdle is to have them understand that "input lag" is a real problem. The third hurdle is waiting for them to reply (i'm close to the 24th hour mark for my emailed inquiry)... all the while, hoping that the chat session or phone call doesn't disconnect during their endless transfers to the "right" department.

amcl, i called the customer service #.

i told them that my monitor had a dead pixel in the centre of the screen (which it does). they created a new order and said that the replacement monitor would be brand new and not just a refurbished one.

if they send a refurbished unit anyways, are there any labels or notices on the box saying it's refurbished?

someone really needs to tell dell's monitor division to stop shipping out rev a00 monitors on new orders. take the 5minutes or whatever it takes to flash the new fw and avoid paying all these shipping charges back & forth to customers.

my replacement was A00, but with a new product number.

old product number began with a "J".  the new product number begins with a "G".

lag is reduced. sharpness is increments of 25.

Refurb ones will have red sticker on the box. It's impossible to miss.

if sharpness goes up by 25, it is not the new firmware.

Hello

First off... I don't seem to be noticing the input lag like many others are, nor do I see any specific tint of colour overshadowing the screen.

However, I do notice the horizontal banding issue (Left screen is brighter than the right side)... It's quite noticeable on pages like this forum where there is a lot of whitespace on either side of the content... Is this issue going to be addressed, or is there some sort of workaround already in place? I've tried to read as much of this thread as I can, but 96 pages is quite a lot, and most of the discussion is revolving around input lag and attempting to calibrate the monitor correctly... I can open up Paint, dump the screen with grey and see the discrepancy between the two ends of the monitor quite easily, so it is annoying for me to see it / notice it.

Would calibration help in levelling out this horizontal banding (assuming this is the right term)?

Also, are Dell technicall staff/engineers aware of this issue as something that needs to be addressed?

Hey mike5065 - you ever wonder what the lag would be like if you had the updated firmware, using the HDMI/DVI cable?  are you planning to test that out?  I remember reading one post (in this thread) where someone did it and they experienced very little to no lag at all.

I really want to order this monitor.  But don't want to take the chance of getting the old version.

I am not going to order until I know with confidence I will get the monitor with the new firmware.

Waiting, waiting, waiting!!!!

i also did HDMI versus DVI tests, posted elsewhere on this forum. in the end, I concluded the test process had too many variables (such as video card, driver version, DVI port selection port 1 or 2, the use of ATi CCC at startup, CCC main vs. clone assignment, rebooting the PC, etc), and all variables combined made it difficult to conclude anything, so I go by how the monitor feels and reacts. but the new monitor was never more than 2 frames behind my old 2005FPW, which was a fatst monitor.

what I have experienced over the last 2 months is my new product, although A00, performs about one frame (sometime two frames) faster than the old product. some of my tests quantified that, but I don't completely trust my test results due to variables. the HDMI still seems to react faster in HL2, versus DVI, all other things being equal, but the DVI reacts fast enough. in the future, I will probably use DVI for the PC, and HDMI for multimedia. given different SM default values, I know that firmware default values have been changed, and possibly the firmware itself, for this "G" product A00.

i really like this monitor. only quirks on mine are the slight color shift on left side in a dark room, partly due to brightness, but the brightness compared to my dim 2005FPW is far better, so a trade off that i accept. everything else is good, dell service is outstanding once again, and the price was excellent.

My supplier in the UK has received a fresh supply of revised 2408WFP's with a revised part number of 0G286H, still Rev A00 but replacing the existing 0CX268 Rev A00.

They appear to be the real deal, but I'm waiting for verification before I place my order.

A couple pages back i gave raving reviews of my new A01 but I have to tell you after a week I have noticed something that is bothering me asside from the left side being brighter then the right.  This thing puts out enough heat to cook on!  Not only does the heat come up from the back but it also radiates it right from the front of the screen to your face.  Its really getting annoying and i swear is giving me headaches.  Wish I had a Rad detector b/c this monitor seems like it just cant be good for your health!

You know, I didnt have ANY of these issues with my old 22" which was about half the price....:smileymad:

I received a 0G286H replacement for my 0CX268 today.  (both rev A00).  The new monitor does NOT support sharpness increments of 10 - just 25 as before which implies it does not have updated firmware.  So the new part number alone is not proof of the update.

That said the monitor doesn't have the DDC/CI problems I had with the old monitor.  I didn't have banding problems with the old one and the new one is fine too.  Still have to sort out the colour balance - but no real changes in that regard.
