I received a 0G286H replacement for my 0CX268 today. (both rev A00). The new monitor does NOT support sharpness increments of 10 - just 25 as before which implies it does not have updated firmware. So the new part number alone is not proof of the update.
Same here in Belgium.
I called for the Input Lag and Sharpness issue and they sent me a new 2408 with part#0G286H and obviously the old firmware.
Great support but this did not solved my problems.
However I noticed a change: the anti-glare coating is definitively not the same. It seems less grainy and the picture looks better and clearer.
I really prefer this one.
Maybe other 0G286H owners can confirm (or not) this feeling.
Also, "the brighter left side" problem seems improved. Maybe this is linked with the new anti-glare coating.
But - nothing's perfect - maybe also due to the new anti-glare coating: there is a (very) small mark on the screen I'm not able to clean. Actually, it seems to be a small (1 milimiter) defect in the anti-glare coating.
Not a big issue though: like a dust that cannot be wiped away, but maybe somebody here can tell me if this is common or if there is a way to get rid of it.
To those who like to try: you need to look carefully at your screen with enough light to spot it...

That said the monitor doesn't have the DDC/CI problems I had with the old monitor. I didn't have banding problems with the old one and the new one is fine too. Still have to sort out the colour balance - but no real changes in that regard.
I have the 0G286H (rev A00) as well. With my camera set at 1/160s shutter speed, I can detect that the 2408WFP is 40-65ms behind my E248WFP. I played COD4 and Crysis on both monitors and can definitely notice a lag on the 2408WFP when moving around (funnily, i can HEAR myself being shot at, BEFORE seeing it!) whereas my E248WFP is perceptibly instantaneous.
My supplier in the UK has received a fresh supply of revised 2408WFP's with a revised part number of 0G286H, still Rev A00 but replacing the existing 0CX268 Rev A00.
...
my replacement was G283H-A00 (made in Mexico July 2008, Canadian delivery).
softMCCS contunes to report firmware version 0.1. sharpness is increments 25. lag is reduced. SM defaults were different, and DVI calibration for the white point changed to RGB 100-95-100, with very litttle gamma adjustment required (so I ignored). Overall, an nice improvement.
martidi, are you talking about the mark that is right in the centre of the monitor? i notice that too ... it's like a little dust particle that can't be wiped off. looks kind of like a dead pixel, but it's not.
my product # is 0G283H (rev a00).
when i goto any site with a dark background and maximize the browser wnidow, i can clearly see the increased brightness on the left side of thes screen. eg. on this site. http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1264046&page=4
the lag on this monitor is pretty horrible as well.

I think this test here really brings out what you're talking about:
My monitor doesn't ship for a little over a week. I still say, if I don't receive an A01, I'll flip. I've used a 2407WFP and it was barely perceptable during desktop use that the input lag was there, but gaming was fine. I've used a 2408WFP A00 and it was too slow for me. My monitor died, and I only ordered after hearing a number of people getting A01...
But all of these A00 showing up? If you post that you receive an A00 from a new order, can you please state which country you are in?
here in Lithuania Dell dealer also hass 0G286H i just ordered it and i got this nr 0G286H i also called dell dealer in LT they also have all models whit 0G286H A00 Sharpnes 25

Hello street dreamer,
For the mark, yes that exactly that...! :smileysurprised:
Mmmh interesting..I need to investigate on this... I'll be soon writing a book on the 2408 saga :smileywink:
@ mike5065, amcl, Deadeye_M and other owners of 0G283H or 0G286H...
Can you comment on this mark ? Barely noticeable but seems to prove the anti-glare coating has changed, indeed.
remind me the two horizontal thin lines on Trinitron CRT :smileytongue:
Thank you
Ps: for the left bright side, you're right: it's always very noticeable with specific colors, but less than with my previous 0CX268.

You got a Canadian Delivery, and recieved a Newer Firmware Monitor?
I just ordered one this morning, expected delviery date is Sept 15th,08 it says. Im also a Canadain Order. so i hope i get the newer firmware.
Anyone recieve a A01 Firmware one? if so please post your location and date ordered.
I ordered one 15 Aug and receved a A01 on the 21 Aug. I'm in Halifax. Monitor came from/via Toronto though Purolator tracking said it was shipping in US for the first day (origin?).
The only "issues" I have are some minor backlight bleeding and, since eberybody keeps mentioning it a gradient shift on BOTH the left and right sides. I would never have really noticed it if it wasn't constantly mentioned here in the forum. At times I think I see it top and bottom as well, thinking it is my eyes playing tricks when them move form dark the bezel to a bright screen.
I don'y have any heat issues at all, as some also report. No PS noise.
SoftMCCS also reports a firmware versio of 0.1. Monitor was manufactured in Aug 08.

Hello imcan8dn,
What's the product number of your 2408 ?
0CX268 or 0GH286/0GH283 or another.
If it's 0GH286/0GH283, do you have a little mark on the screen, like an hardly noticeable dust that cannot be wiped away (see posts on the previous page)...

Mine is a 0G283H (<<< exactly stated as that) and as far as my eyes can tell, there is no mark on the screen.
Thank you for your answer.
You're correct, it's 0G283H/0G286H. I mistyped.
Are your sure about the mark ? Both Street Dreamer and I noticed it.
It's near the center of the screen and you need to look close with enough light on the srceen (powered off) to notice it.
My hypothesis is it is due to a new anti-glare processing on 0G283H/0G286H part#.

I'm a UK Dell customer and I have an A00 2408WFP. I'm trying to contact Technical Support about the firmware (with regards to Jimmy's post here) but it seems impossible to get in touch with them. Part of the problem is finding my service tag - I've checked the various help things on Dell's site and none of them seem to correspond with the stickers and numbers that are actually on my monitor. And if I go the route of choosing the monitor from a list, I find that it isn't there (only two monitors are and neither are the 2408WFP).
It also seems that you need this info to contact Dell support, and as I can't find it, I'm stuck.
