This is a common problem with LCD monitor using the S-IPS panel. Seems the pixels are failing. Not much you can do but get a replacement.

im sure my monitor came with a 3 year warranty, do you know if it can be replaced via that?

garylouden,

If it's under warranty it should be replaced.

I'm interested in this. Can you provide any more information or sources?

Thanks for links. It's suggested on one of those threads that it is delamination of the panel. That's what I'd concluded after reading other reports. The connection with S-IPS panels in new to me, although I've seen it reported on Apple Cinema Displays, which also use LG.Philips S-IPS panels. However, if it is delamination, it would seem to be a manufacturing defect, not necessarily related to the S-IPS panel technology.

Just for interest: LG.Philips - technologies
