Is the CPU exhaust vent blocked by the dock? If so, that would explain the increased temperature.

This would be the obvious first thought.  But there is lots of room for air flow. And the dock even elevates the rear of the laptop.

I just noticed a mistake in my question.  I state that the cpu temp increases.  CPU temp stays the same docked or undocked.  I meant to type gpu.  It is my video card that seems to run hotter docked.

By any chance is the right side fan the gpu fan?  Assuming one fan is for the cpu and one for the gpu.  The right fan blows less air docked or undocked. More curious is that according to I8kfanGUI the right fan blows about 350rpm less on high yet runs 300 rpm slower on low.  These don't change docked or undocked.

Sorry, did it again...I'm going to have to start proofreading!

The right fan runs 300 rpm faster in low than the left fan.  So it runs slower on high and faster on low than the left fan.

The right side is the GPU fan, it's smaller than the CPU vent. It should be blowing less air than the left side as the fan is smaller and not as powerful.

Is that fan blocked? If so, how much? 50%? 100%? As long as its temperature does not exceed the CPU's, I wouldn't worry about it.

Has the GPU temperature always been that high? The M90 does have a very powerful GPU, so I can see why it is running hotter. You'll need to ask someone else with a M90 to compare values, or you can call Dell if you are really worried about it.

Idling the cpu temperature is always lower than the gpu temperature...docked or undocked.  15-20 C lower.

CPU hovers about 30 C docked and gpu about 50 C.  Is 50 C too high?  Should I worry?  I've never seen the gpu reach 70 C, even with the +8 C add-me-on to the gpu reading in I8kfanGUI.
