You should give them the make & model# of your modem.
Most people usual have a DSL or Cable modem plugged into a separate wireless router (or wired router that has a WAP - Wireless Access Point). If you have FIOS, the model they install has builtin router w/wireless, as well as some newer cable/DSL installations.
So, better double check and make sure which setup you actually have.
