Thanks for the tips, but the game is still stuttering even with disabling LCD and setting it to the highest priority in processes (task manager). There was some slightly better performance when I disabled Everest Ultimate, which was runing in the LCD...
I suggest running CSS, open task manager (ctrl+alt+del ) then hit the cpu column ( so it organizes it in what is accessing the processor.. every 5 seconds you should see something pop in and use the cycles for a second..
I play CSS and had this problem in the beginning also.. I do not remember exactly what was causing it, but I do remember that my hard drive would have activity at the same instance as the lag spike every 5 seconds..
I think it had to do with the Gaming Panel LCD... not positive though becasue I went through so many things tweaking this machine... It may have also been the Volume Shadow or something to do with backups..
anyways.. open task manager then report what you see is using the cycles
YES! ( remembered that problem after you said it! ) Everest caused big lags with me while playing games ( i used it to modify the lcd panel to customize what I saw )
by any chance did you try disabling everest from starting up at startup ( or kill the process ) and see if you still lag?
I know you said you stopped the lcd manager, but I think Everest still starts...
In Everest, I think it had to do with the polling of sensors I had it reading to display on the Gaming LCD... everytime Everest would check the sensors, I would get hard drive activity and a big Lag spike ingame.... I eventually uninstalled everest and am still looking for a good alternative to customize my game panel....

Yeah, why I did was to stop Everest completely and it did help things along for a while, but things are still choppy as all h^ll in ArmA (Armed Assault). I know that ArmA is a heavy game graphical, but one 8800M GTX should take it easily at low settings. (It doesn't support Sli)
BTW: If you want you could still use Everest and not have it interfere with your game to much, what you could do is go to the preferences in Everest and set the refresh rate on the sensors to 60/120/180 or whatever seconds. That way you only get the ingame lag once every 1/2/3 minutes. Not ideal I know, but a kind of a solution.
Any more ideals... :smileyhappy: to laggy in Armed Assault? (Shame its not a very main stream game, if it was I bet someone would have figured it out by now.)
It has Sli profiles for both your games. I have not tried it with either of those but can say that it has improved Sli performance on other games I own.
That's good to hear. One other thing you may try is to disable the Ageia PhysX card, unless you're playing a game that is utilizing it. I found it to cause some lockups & stuttering in games that did not use it.
Disable all background programs that don't absolutely need to be running. (I stopped Everest Ultimate, BitMeter2 etc.)
Disable the PhysX card from the device manager.
Many thanks to all to suggested the above, the game is now running as sweet as a nut, really excellent. To those who haven't played it yet and own a M1730 I really recommend that you go out and buy a copy. Its cheap too!

Take a look at this program. www.nhancer.com

Thanks I had tried that earlier and it helped alot.
I think I'm close to getting rid of the stuttering, I'll post back up when I figure out all the settings.

The solution:
Download nHancer, install and run once.
Disable all background programs that don't absolutely need to be running. (I stopped Everest Ultimate, BitMeter2 etc.)
Disable the PhysX card from the device manager.

Hey,
I'm using 174.31 dell performance drivers. They give good performance in my opinion. I've never tried the whole modded drivers from laptopvideo2go.
Thanks again for the help,
