Hi, put in your comcast CD that came with your service and run the step by step. I had a similiar problem when I moved. When comcast says "Its fine on our end" that means they are pushing signal they have no idea if you can actually access the internet. So use the comcast instalation CD follow the step by step see if that helps.

It needs to run the CD to set up access to your router.

If that isn't the case then you're problem is your access/signal/policies with your router. You're router came with a book of how to access the router and set it up properly. Check that as well. (if i remember right hardline your computer to the router in port 1, i beleive the adress is 1.1.101, but it has been awhile)

 Hello,

Thanks for the help so much. I didn't get a cd from Comcast . I have a modem only from them so do I need to request a cd from them for the modem because the tech set up the internet and cable for me. And the router signal is working fine. I got someone else to test their laptop and they got online just fine but I can connect to the router but not the net when I click the internet explorer. Dell said it was the WEP. I contacted Linksys and we tested it and that's not it. I told u what Comcast told me. And Dell said that the Router needed to be config with the wireless card which didn't make sense to me and they want me to pay more money for this. And I really don't have it. Do you have any of suggestions to this? And about the cd from Comcast what should I ask them for. I am unclear on what you were telling me.

                                                       Thanks

Not sure about vista but if you can convert these from xp here are some ideas...

- once it says you're "connected" go to a dos prompt.  In xp that's start, run, command.

- at the dos prompt type  ping google.com

- if you really are connected you should get 4 replies.  if you aren't really connected it will time out.

by default the router will give you an ip address.  if you can see a little computer down in the bottom right, hover your mouse over it and see if it says "connected"

right click on it and hit "status"

click on the support tab

you should see an IP address other than all zeros.

If you look at your available wireless connections, there shouldn't be a picture of a lock on them.  if there is, then the router does have WEP set.  that means you have to remove it.  Not that it's a bad thing to have wep on but you obviously didn't set it so you won't know what the codes are.  If you bought the router at a store in an unopened box then wep shouldn't be set.  If you bought it used then it most likely is set.  There's usually a reset button.

that's all the ideas i have at the moment.

good luck
