Dell Vostro 1000 popping and crackling

Question

I just received my Dell Vostro 1000 today and was completely satisfied with it, until I listened to some music and started playing a game. It seems that when any type of audio is playing, my speakers will make odd popping and crackling noises. It is very, very annoying. I put headphones on to see if that would help, but it just made the popping and crackling more noticeable. Is there a way to fix this? Or do I need to send my laptop in for repair?

hi there, Go to control panel > Sounds and audio devices. Then then click advanced under the Device Volume... then from here, go to Options and Advanced controls. You should get a window with multiple sound volume controls. Make sure that all but your main volume control are below half.

I had a similar issue with my Inspiron 9300, and just moving the sliders below half way fixed the issue.

I tried your suggestion, but it didn't work. I'll probably have to send it in for repair.
