Yes, I read the FAQ before and I did that before. It didn't help. I also turned off the windows vista sound enhancements, which didn't help. It makes the same noises when it's plugged into external speakers, as well.
hi there, Go to control panel > Sounds and audio devices. Then then click advanced under the Device Volume... then from here, go to Options and Advanced controls. You should get a window with multiple sound volume controls. Make sure that all but your main volume control are below half.
I had a similar issue with my Inspiron 9300, and just moving the sliders below half way fixed the issue.

Try turning off your wireless as per FAQ #14 and see if that helps. The FAQ is the 1st thread on this board.
