gigiipse... the settings do nothing to resove the 2 issues I mentioned.
Yes, you can adjust the sensitivity, with it set low, hard presses are ignored, when set high, light touches are ignored. The idea is to avoid accidental response, but no matter how I set it, I've never had an accidental response, so why not have 'no matter how hard the user presses' option?
The other issue, the scroll on the side and bottom, the width of the scroll area can be adjusted, nice but incomplete. I want the touchpad driver to view the scroll areas as separate. When the scroll area is touched, the mouse should never move.
Again, at this point in the touchpad industry game, my suggestions should be standard options in any touchpad driver. If you are happy with less, that's great, good luck to ya.
Sory can't falllow you on this one. Can't understand what you want. You want to get accidental response and can't get it? Try a hammer, see if that get's an accidental response. If you want to have the entire range, from low to hard, you'll curse yourself when you press accidentaly, and trust me, we all do, no matter what some might think.
The side and bottom scroll are viewed as separate part. Whenever I get there I only get scroll, the mouse does't move. Neither should yours, unless it's for select purpose, which I don't understand exactly how it works. Nor does on any other tauchpad with scroll, no matter of maker, If it doesn't do that, either if malfunctioning or yes, change driver, AGAIN. I'd sugest to try an older version :smileywink:
I just installed the synaptics driver on my Dell 1525-121b which I bought at Best Buy. It had the previous 7.1.1500.2 ALPS driver. I do lose the scrolling function, however, the precision of the mouse seems much better.
I will reinstall the old ALPS driver if I see no improvement in the following days, but so far it seems like a keeper.
I've been having a problem with the touchpad on my Inspiron 1525 since I got it a few weeksks ago. The horizontal scrolling has never worked on it, and the vertical scrolling seems a bit off (where you have to run your finger to scroll is a bit off where the lines are). I've tried changing all kinds of settings, to no avail. The touchpad itself is sometimes fine and sometimes a bit futzy (does funny things, doesn't register taps properly, has a slow resonse, etc.). I took it back in to Best Buy and the tech there agreed that it seems rather off, and she said the only help for me was to send my laptop in for 2 weeks for them to look at it. I can't lose my computer for 2 weeks, so I'm hoping there's another answer!
I have noticed that some people are saying they have installed a different driver for their touchpads. I was wondering if someone could give me more information on what that might do. I saw one post that said that you'd lose the scrolling function by installing the Synaptics driver, and I use the scrolling function a great deal (when I can get it to work!).
Any information on this topic would be appreciated!

I did some searching and found that others are installing the synaptics driver listed here.
