Why does Skype Video Call Slow Down A High Specs System Like An OLD PC??

I have got a new XPS M1530   Intel T9300 4GB RAM 200GB 7200rpm LCD LG 1680x1050 2.0MP WEBCAM GeForce 8600M GT 256MB Vista Ultimate    Recently I have a few times of Skype video call.   During the call, I browsed, chat, etc.   Why did everytime I browse / open an application / JUST SCROLL A LITTLE BIT FAST ON A WEB BROWSER, the phone sound skipped?  I thought I have got more than enough specs to handle these processes.   I felt like I am using an old PC!   I also have set the Process Priority of Skype to Normal in the Task Manager.   Why does it still happen? How to solve this?   Thank you.

Try updating some of your device drivers for sound card, video card etc... from the dell website

They bring out newer drivers all the time so its worth trying this. Also see if an update for Skype exists.

Ok I'll try it. But I bought this laptop in Japan so the installed driver is in Japanese. Is it OK if I use the one I download from DELL in English?

The Skype I used is the latest version.

And I also read that Skype is a very high demanding on process. Does 2.5GHz, 6MB L2 cache and 4GB RAM not enough to handle this?

Hi, you most probably will have to install the driver in Japanese as the English version may throw up an error message. Your machine is be more than powerful enough to run Skype :smileywink:
