Error message concerning AC power adapter

Question

I regularly receive this error message when I am connected to AC power and my battery is fully charged:   'The AC power adapter type cannot be determined. Your system will operate slower and the battery will not charge. Please connect a Dell 65W AC adapter or higher for best system operation.'   I have a 9-cell battery and 65W AC adapter.   What could be the problem?

what model do you have? dell recently replaced ac adapters with a newer version for folk constantly getting this error message.

Inspiron 1420   Bought it last week.

I would contact dell support and tell them of your problem. In my case I contacted dell support via email and was sent a new ac adapter.
