It should work fine, but the new CPU will not be covered by the warranty, so be sure you retain the original CPU for the duration of the warranty - were it necessary to return the system for repair or replacement, you could find yourself out the new CPU otherwise.

I upgraded to the t9300.  Wise upgrade for the money.  You get 6mb L2 cache, penrynn class. Install is a breeze.

Can you buy the cpu from dell themselvs?

 

Can anyone point me in the right direction in buying the T9300?

 

Im from the UK btw :)

Dell don't offer CPU's in the XPS M1530 upgrades section, so you're going to have to try and source one from elsewhere.

 

Just Google 'Intel T9300', and you'll find a couple of UK sites offering them.

They're not cheap mind!  You're looking at around £200!!

Where exactly is "locally"?  It's UK sources which are needed, remember ;)

Locally meaning he got it from a store near where he lives, and its probably $275 US dollars, which is actually cheaper than other places.

sorry for not giving better details. looked at receipt, price 375.00 US dollars.  the shop matched best price i could find on web.
