First of all, welcome to the forum. You should create a signature letting everyone know what you have, it sometimes will help members figure out problems. just a suggestion.
What kind of noise is it? Some members have reported a clicking noise. I have always set my hard drive to performance mode in the bios setup. I actually have two of these hard drives and two segate momentus hard drives and have never heard any noise from any of them. You can also go to the Western Digital website and someone said the address the issue. Has something to do with the heads seating and unseating and seating periodically, or something like that. you might search this forum and get better answer.
ye i get an occasional loud click noise from the hard drive, when its beem idol for a while and sometimes a short 'beep' noise, although i have read that this is normal and if you change some bios setting you can change it, but it doesnt bother me really, no damage is being done.

Welcome to the Forum :smileyhappy:
The dreaded "noise" is a well known issue with these models. It can be reduced significantly but takes some patience and some trial and error.
Pay particular attention to tip #6 here:
