Did you get an exchange? They don't sell computers running XP anymore. You can buy XP for about $200 on some sites. Call them and tell them all the problems you are having. I had an exchanged M1730 and it was broken so they sent me another one and its been fine.
The XPS M1530 was what they sent me to replace the Inspiron which had Windows XP, plus they DO still sell computers with XP on them, both in the Outlet and the regular store (business section I believe).
I spent most of today in chat with them and nothing happened besides having the guy shut down the chat, I have been talking to them from day 1 about this machine, they did have the DVD-ROM fixed but did not offer to replace my program disk that got broken because they did not even bother to service the machine when someone else sent it back, they just boxed it up and sent it to me.
I noticed that when the tech support came to my house to replace the DVD-ROM Drive, they did not get the keyboard down right, it is bulging in the middle and the plastic end piece that is right above the power port and USB ports is not connected right, not to mention it looks like the silver face plate is bent right above the DVD-ROM drive which I did not do because I have hardly used the machine.
UPDATE!
Dell is going to send the repair tech out "again" to fix the problems with the keyboard and see if they can make it look like it did when it arrived. I am also waiting on hearing from "Level 2" people about what can be done with the XPS M1530, I hate not being able to network XP and Vista without having to spend hours trying to figure things out, if Microsoft created both OS's like they claim, why is it so difficult to network the computers??!
Sigh.....
I contacted dell tech support and they told me that the matter was "owned" by the Resolution Expert team, what ever that means, not sure how long it will take me to hear from them. Meanwhile it is hard to type on the keyboard because it is all over the place.

Well, Dell just called and they are going to replace the Keyboard, Central Control Panel, and the Keyboard end caps. Hopefully everything will come out good and it will look like a brand new computer.
Guess nothing can be done about Vista because of Microsoft not allowing them to use Windows XP anymore, so I will have to try to resolve the networking problems between Vista and XP Home. Funny thing about this error, I can network the M1530 running Vista with the computers at work which are running XP Pro.:robotsurprised:
Well, Dell had the tech come out and he replaced the keyboard on my M1530 but then he had to come back the next day to replace the entire motherboard because the power port was faulty and I was ending up running on battery while I was plugged in. They never did do anything about the problem I am having with the tracking pad but I am through hassling with them about that, I just use a separate mouse now.
I am still trying to find out why the machine was sent to be in such bad condition, broken DVD-ROM drive, faulty motherboard power connector, the keyboard was messed up by the last tech they sent out to replace the dvd drive.
The computer is running "good" now (knock on wood) but I still see some things that were better on my Inspiron that are lacking on the M1530, mainly the sound card, had a good sound card on the Inspiron and only have onboard sound with the M1530. Other than the sound card, I love the computer, just wish it had not been such a hassle getting things fixed.
