Are you using the install disks from Dell a Microsoft Windows Vista Disk? If you are using the Dell disks, you might have to contact them to get a driver for your SATA Raid driver and install it before you actually install Windows. I will help you through this, just let me know which disk media you are using.

One more thing, double check your CD and make sure it is free of all fingerprints and such.

It goes through the installation procees then when it reboots it will just go to a blank black screen and remain there until I turn it off. I have done it with the CD in and without and it gets the same thing just a blank screen which is black.

I am using the Windows Vista Home edition install from Dell...The computer turns on fine but it freezes during the install process everytime after it reboots...

Ok, so it goes through the installation process then reboots. You get a blank screen after reboot. Does it give you an error code? Blue Screen? Or does the screen just remain blank?

Also, did you leave the disk in during reboot or take it out before? Some installs will reboot many times depending on the actual computers configuration. If you take the disk out to soon that might mess up the whole install process.

I had a Gateway computer that installed the OS and if I didn't take the media out, it would start the install process all over again. Problem is, I had to wait until after the BIOS boot to insert the media agin for it to continue installing the programs.

get back with me. I will sit here and monitor this forum and help you out all I can this evening.

Ok, when you first turn on your computer, the first screen is the BIOS. When you see that screen hit the F2 key. This will take you into the BIOS.

Steps to take:

1. Use your arrow key to scroll down until MAINTENENCE is highlighted and hit the ENTER key.

2.Use your arrow key again and scroll down to LOAD Defaults and hit the enter key again.

3. Use your arrow keys to highlight the Continue Setup and hit your enter key again.

4. After this is all done hit your ESC or escape key.

5. Final step make sure you choose the selection to SAVE the changes.

From here your computer will reboot. Load your OS disk before doing so and give the install another try.
