In order, try without the battery - if it'll power up then, replace the battery with a new one. If not, try a new AC adapter.
Still nothing? You've either a power jack or an outright mainboard failure.

Thanks for your quick reply.
It's definitely not the battery, but I'll try with another adapter.
Is there some way to be sure that the power jack is broken? If I remove it and try to boot up the computer, will that work?

If the system will power up with a partially charged battery, it may be just the jack. If it won't, it's the mainboard.
