Can't read old Outlook Express messages on new computer

Question

I got a new computer.  It also has Outlook Express.  I copied my old OE messages folders from my old computer to my new computer.  When I try to open an old message folder on my new computer OE opens and displays the new message folder list.  Here is the path to my new OE message folders on my new computer:   C:\Documents and Settings\John\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{31391EF3-B3AC-4F12-94D8-DC2DA45E9526}\Microsoft\Outlook Express   Here is the path to my old OE message folders on my new computer:   C:\Documents and Settings\John\Local Settings\Application Data\Identies\{B81840D4-1844-4D89-A307-5402BFC1B327}\Microsoft\Outlook Express   When I try to open an old message folder OE opens the new path.  I have tried pasting the old message folders in the new message folder file but still the same thing happens.  How can I view my old messages?

Don't copy. Use OEs export function on the 'old' computer and then Import on the 'new' computer. It's under 'File' in the Menu bar and explained in Help.

My old computer is not networked with my new computer so I can't export from it to the new computer.  Any other solution?

Copy the folder C:\Documents and Settings\John\Local Settings\Application Data\Identies\{B81840D4-1844-4D89-A307-5402BFC1B327}\Microsoft\Outlook Express and its contents from your old PC to a suitable folder (say a temp folder) in your new PC. Then use the import in OE on your new PC and point it to where you put the old ones:

In OE, File/import/messages, select OE 6, click next; check 'import from an OE6 store directory', click OK. Browse to the folder with your old OE 6 files, etc..
