I'm guessing the 2009WFP is the one closest to the camera?

Yes, the closer display is the 2009w. Any viewing angle sharper than ~45 degrees vertically would shift all white areas of the screen to a light blue, and anything sharper than ~30 degrees horizontally would tint everything orange.

Shipping it back was less painful than I thought, the 800 number dell instructed me to call in the email was actually a DHL store locator. There was one about a mile away from me, gave them the enclosed shipping label, paid a 2 dollar taping fee, and was on my way. I just hope that dell receives the paperwork in order, and that I don't end up with an invoice for the replacement monitor.

Yeah. There isn't another monitor I would want on the market right now. The lavender color I have up on my background hides the blotches pretty well, and an unexpected plus to aero's glass UI is that I can't differentiate between the areas that are darkened because of the problem, and those that are darkened because of the transparency with things underneath showing through it.

As long as it doesn't get worse and I don't spend too much time looking at it I figure I'll be alright. Also, I really liked having a twin-menu layout (one at top, and one at the bottom) in ubuntu. Having that second menu bar allowed me to have various system monitor gadgets running without feeling too cluttered. However, I had to stop using the top menu bar because of how badly it burned in, and having two at the bottom or all the gadgets on one bar was too cluttered. This was a big reason behind why I actually tried to call dell in the first place, but I've since abandoned Ubuntu due to a long string of quibbles, the final straw being that its preinstalled partition manager (gparted) more or less corrupted my partition table.

I finally received my replacement today after three phone calls to Dell, three with the courier and 11 days of waiting. I guess I got lucky, because I got a 2007WFP revision A04 with a S-IPS panel (serial number ending in L). Goes without saying that I was very relieved when I checked the model/serial number and verified that it wasn't a 2009WFP. :smileyhappy:
