Inspiron 8200: Wake-on-lan from Hibernate with closed display lid

Question

Hi,   I want to use my Inspiron 8200 via remote desktop, so i want its display lid kept closed. In power managm. settings I said 'on closing lid, do nothing'. Everything is fine, but:   I want to wake it over lan. When the lid is closed it starts up, but then falls back to sleep. If the display is open, then it works fine. If i do the same from standby (with closed lid), it wakes up but the display keeps black (also on remote desktop), until i open it an press a key.   I assume it's a problem with the power management hardware and i can probably do nothing about it, right? My idea: could i just remove the magnetic sensor, that recognizes the closed lid, so it thinks, it's always open?  Or would i get into new problems then?   Regards from Hamburg!

what settings have you chosen on the network adapter?

you mean on the energy settings tab of the network adapters properties dialog?

All three checkboxes are checked (translated from german :) :

- "Computer can shutdown the device to save energy"

- "Device can activate computer from standby mode"

- "Only management stations can activate standby computers"

as i described in another post, i solved the problem by removing the little magnetic piece in the laptop lid. Now the I8200 wakes up perfectly via wake-on-lan.
