My multimedia keys on my XPS M1530

Question

I have an XPS M1530, got it yesterday, and I am having problems with the keys, at the moment, all of them seem to work except mute. It recognises that I am pressing something to do with sound because the sound bar comes up but it doesn't mute the sound its really annoying as the laptops brand new and I've just set everything how I like it. Is there anything I can do? thanks, Jo
