Zizou-CA,

I would suggest that you restart your computer.  If you are running Windows XP, press F8 while the Dell logo is on the screen.  At the Advanced Options menu, choose Safe Mode.  Login as Administrator.  Click Start|All Programs|Accessories|System Tools\System Restore.  Pick a restore point prior to your uncle running the shareware registry cleaner.  That should put your system drivers back as they should be.  Registry cleaners can be very useful in some instances, but they always have the potential to really mess things up if used incorrectly.

Let us know how you fare.

Tony

You can go here and put in your service tag and it will tell you what wireless card was ordered with your computer. You may need to reload the Notebook system software and the Chipset drivers first if your reg cleaner has remove them also.

Thanks, I have done that and the only information related to mu problem is DELL TRUEMOBILE 1300 WLAN (802.11 B/G)M, which is normally the wireless network adapter, I didn't find any information about the wired one, maybe it's internal? I don't really know.

But even when I tried to install the wireless one it dosen't work.

Any other advice please?

Did you install the MPCI driver. It is for the internal wireless card. Also did you install the Notebook System Software and then the Chipset drivers first?

Personally, based on what you describe, I'd recommend reinstalling all the drivers just to make sure that isn't the problem.  The full list of drivers for the inspiron 510m are below:

  • Dell Notebook System Software
  • Intel Mobile Chipset driver
  • PCMCIA controller driver
  • Intel 855GME video driver
  • SigmaTel STAC 9750 audio driver
  • Intel Pro/100 VE driver
  • Modem (MDC) driver
  • Dell 1300 Wireless MiniPCI drive
  • Wireless Bluetooth (if customer has a device)
  • Alps touchpad drivers
  • QuickSet utility

Thanks for your reply but it dosen't resolve the problem, I was thinking my problem is due to the drivers but it seems that it's not the problem, just to remind you that only my network drivers are with a yellow circle and reinsatalling them dosen't change anything, I don't want to loose my files but I think that the best solution is to reinstall windows. I am happy to hear any other solution.

At the least, try reinstalling the Dell Notebook System Software, then the Chipset Software, and then the network drivers.  I have seen in the past where if you don't have hte Notebook System Software installed you can run into problems similiar to what you are experiencing.

Well what I have done exactly is, I have downloaded all the drivers and than burn them in a CD, I have installed The Notebook System software, then the chipset and then all my network drivers, but I didn't solve the problem.
