Studio 1535 Boot Problems (Optical Drive Related)

Has anyone else experienced this:

My Studio 1535 won't boot properly if there is a cd in the optical drive.  Can't seem to figure out what is going on, the Internal HDD is the 1st boot device so I don't understand why the computer is even looking at the optical drive during startup (in, addition I moved the optical drive to the very last boot option in the bios- keeps having trouble starting though).

Generally, one of two things happens: Either the computer gets past the bios splashscreen, the screen goes blank, and an underscore starts flashing up in the top left corner while the computer begins beeping like crazy; or the computer boots through the windows splashscreen and then gets hung before actually starting up.

This is issue is easily duplicated for me, it happens anytime there is a disc in the optical drive during startup.

Thanks for any help,

Bill McNierney

Also, anyone else having a really hard time getting discs to eject from the laptop?

Just got my 1535. Haven't tried that yet.  But just for the record, what do you do when there is a cd in the drive? You just aren't able to start it up again?  I don't have mine with me so I can't look at it, but what do you do when that happens?  Does tech support know about this?  What's being done about it?

Hey, thanks for replying.  Mostly what I do is not keep any cds/dvds in the drive to avoid this issue.  But when it happens, I have to unplug the computer and remove the battery to kill it.  Then I restart and right after the BIOS screen I will attempt to eject the CD, and if I don't get it ejected in time- repeat.  Once I get the CD ejected, it'll start fine.  I haven't contacted Tech Support yet, I was hoping that someone out there may have had some information on this to avoid the whole Tech Support scene (they are frustrating).  Any help is appreciated!
