im going to change my chase fan tomorrow, going to purchase Noctua NF-B9 92 mm, from what ive read, its the best one in terms of sound and performance, mostly sound, or do you guys recommend other fan? Maybe Nexus Real Silent 92 mm? Is it better?

Please note that the Noctua NF-B9 fan is rated 63 cubic meters per hour, not CFM. That is around 40 CFM compared with the stock fan with over 70 CFM. Not good for your temps.

Over 100 posts on this, too.   Noctua is quiet but the core temps rise.   Numerous fan recs abound but it's debatable which actually pass muster to cool to same level AND achieve quiet.

Personally, I dont think it's worth the effort.  From my profile page:

The 3-13-09 Bios update stops the random ramp-up of the 92mm case fan, one of the main complaints with this machine.  While the 70CFM fan still exhibits more drone than average, more common with a fan that moves this much air,  the update is a tremendous help in making the 435MT a much quieter system. Other more silent case fans that move less air have resulted in increased CPU core temps. You can help some of the drone by moving to soft mounts to isolate the fan body from case.  Others have reported lower temps and noise with the 2000rpm, 58CFM Scythe 100mm Fan.

But, what if I buy two noctua 92mm and place them on top of each other to compensate? What will happen then? Is it possible to place them on top of each other? Both fans blowing out warm air?

Or maybe place one near the front somewhere to get cold air, and one to blow out warm air at the back? Is it doable to place one fan near the front somewhere?

Because I think 2 noctuas will be more silent than the stock chase fan.

That is the funniest thing I have read this week, including a stint with Woody Allen's Without Feathers.   Just when I think I have read it all, nothing left to surprise, along comes another gem, filled with splendor.   I love the fact that my old i7 can still fill me with mirth, one way or another.   Of  course, you're serious, which makes it all the more beautiful, making this sad Monday morn a bit easier to endure at 8:22am.

You must understand, I dont know anything about computers, just seeking help.

Is it possible that I wrote earlier?

Get-Away. Sorry didn't have time to give a full answer yesterday.

Running 2 fans on top of each other would only give a minor improvement at the cost of a lot of noice and risk of vibrations in fan 2. There is a couple of other solutions that has been tried though.

There is a couple of fans just below 60 CFM that you could change to. The Schyte 100 mm is one of them. This will still give you higher temps.

One problem is the 4850 card that is causing a lot of heat inside the small case. Changing the GPU fan to a exchaust (slot) fan reduces the temperatures a bit. But you will still encounter higher temps. Not so much for the CPU because the CPU fan will increase speed and counter the higher CPU temps, but other temps will increase due to the less amount of air that the case fan is extracting. Particularly the TEMPIN0 will increase from high 70C to  high 80 C during load..Dell is not sure what this is (3 different supports have tried to figure this out) but one candidate is the Northbridge.

Adding an extra Slotfan (like the Antec cyclone blower) helps a bit, CPU temps are now back to stock temps and the TEMPIN0 goes down to mid 80C during load (still about 5 C higher then with the stock fan).

One other solution is to run the Schyte fan with a manual fan controller (like the Zalman fan mate 2) this will allow you to increase the fan speed (higher then the BIOS does) and get good temperatures and a quieter set up than with the stock fan. It needs some monitoring through some software (like CPUID hardware monitor) to get it right but is is a fairly simple solution.

Combining a Schyte fan, a fan controller, a GPU exhaustfan and a slot fan gets you an even cooler and quieter case, but it will still not be a silent case. And if you want to go even further you can do what amkothaw did and add 2 extra case fans.

Unfortunally the i7 and the 4850 are both hot running hardware crammed into a poorly ventilated case, so there is no easy solution.

what will happen if I change to noctua 92 chase fan, and add a silent pci fan above the graphic card?

can I play games with that system? how will the temps be?

Does anybody else find it annoying how the fan (I guess it much be the CPU fan) starts to flicker as the CPU temps start to flicker around the 50 degrees celsius mark? It doesn't happen often, because the temps tend to stay below that mark. However, when it does happen, it gets very irritating. I'd prefer that the fan increase and decrease activity in timed stages, rather than go up and down by the second. At least that's what my old Dell Dimension used to do.
