Strange power issues, inspiron b130.

Question

So my girlfriend has a b130. Has had some charging issues due to a chinese 3rd party ac adapter from ebay. She takes her laptop to school one day and when we get home the laptop won't start. Ok, so I order a new official dell power adapter. Same issue. The laptop turns on for maybe 2-3 seconds, no POST, I can hear the hdd start spinning, and then it shuts off. There is no LED codes, there is only 1 led lighting up, and thats the hdd light in the front of the computer. I have done the Fn+Power test to get the same results. (number lock, caps lock, and scroll lock lights up top do not light up. The 4 lights towards the front/base of the keyboard are the power, hdd, battery, and wifi.) No lights come on when the adapter is inserted. The system will give this same issue whether its running on battery, ac adapter, or both. Ive disassembled the laptop and stripped the system down to only the cpu, memory, mobo, and display. I was able to test against 2 working pairs of ram. The issue is the same with or without any ram or a cpu. Is there a way I can determine if the error is in the mobo or the cpu? A cpu replacement isn't that big of a deal, but after 2 ac adapters, and a new lcd screen, its hard to spend good money after bad. A pulled cpu is only around $15 on ebay, however the mobo is about 10x that. At that price, we might as well pay a little more and buy her the new Inspiron Mini 9 shes been eye-balling. Any suggestions? Is is possible that the b130 doesn't have the led error read outs that the other laptops offer?

:^/ It sounds as if you don't have the manual for the laptop, if you don't know whether it has the LED error codes, etc.  Try looking through this and seeing if anything can help.

Ive gone through the online trouble shooting as well. The computer supposedly gives off codes for both cpu and ram. (same codes on my e1505) But neither code appears on this b130.

Google shows other people getting the error leds, but they also get a power led, which I dont, I only get the hdd led, which there is no information out there about.

so does no led error codes mean a busted motherboard? Im half way thinking its a power issue. But it shouldnt be affected with the ac and no battery right?

o.k. i read the post wrong,i was thinking you were NOT getting power,sorry.If the DC-jack was bad then yes there would be a problem running off the power adapter,it would do the same thing,it would not run/power up.

Well thats the thing. I get the same issue with the ac adapter and no battery. It wont even light up for a second with no power, so I know its getting that. So hypothetically there should be no response at all running off the ac adapter if there is a power jack issue right?

I repaired her previous ac adapter. It seems its a simple adapter with only +/-. The adapter for my e1505 however seems to have 3 internal wires, a +/- and a signal wire, to identify if its a genuine dell adapter.

This sounds like the problem my kids are having on there B130,have you checked to make sure the DC-Power jack is bad.I have one on order from parts-people.com.
