That is not true about the MAX ram for these systems.Dell only tested with 2gb for these because ram was so expensive back in 2005-2006 when these systems were made.I myself have 4gb Geil installed for well over a year and a half, and other E1705/9400 users have upgraded the ram also. For some reason i can not get the link you posted to open, but you can upgrade to 4gb with no problems.
I am partial to Geil RAM,which is what i am using now with heatspreaders. But the majority here on this forum use Crucial.
Even if you installed X62 vista with our systems,3.25-3.5gb would still be all we would have available. Our systems do not support memory remapping in order to use all 4gb.MOBO and chipset limitation.
Thanks for the tip about being able to put 4GB RAM in the E1705. I am currently attempting to upgrade my E1705 with a new 320GB HD so I can keep all my mapping software/add-ons etc and dual boot with the Win7 Beta and was disturbed that I was maxxed out at 2GB RAM. I mean, more is always better, right :emotion-1:
Your welcome,by the way i answered your post about upgrading the HDD and being able to clone.Send me a P.M if you need any help with the cloning as i have already used the clone proccess(or it might have been another user that posted about the cloning)i am answering more posts then i can keep up with tonight. And your right AWESOME system.:emotion-5:

10q for your reply. ok then will go with 4GB it would be better!! The link works, the defect is that the site is currently down due to some upgrades.
What would be the best, OCZ, Crucial or Corsair?? In a 32bit Vista, then only about 3.25GB would be available to utlize then, right?
