Issue with Link-layer Synchronize Driver for Inspiron 6400

Question

Hi, I lost my network connectivity on both wired and wireless connections today after my system hang yesterday during shutdown(So I pressed the power button to force it to shutdown). After browsing and following advices on the internet, I got to the Device Manager window and saw ! on Broadcom 440, Dell wireless1390 WLAN Mini-Card and WAN Miniport(IP) Link-layer Synchronizer Driver.  Double-click on one of them, it shows: Device Type: Network Adapter Manufacturer: Silicon Systems The Device Status window shows this message: Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing (Code 39). On Driver Details Window: Driver Provider: Silicon Systems Driver Date: 10/1/2002 Driver Version: 6.0.5019.0 It seems like I need to reinstall this Driver, correct? I tried searching for this driver on my Dell Driver CD, Dell Website and Internet but I could not find it anywhere. Could someone suggest how to resolve this issue? Thanks, Kwanchai

IF you are seeing a ! on both the wired Broadcom and wireless Dell 1390 it might be your chipset driver is corrupt.

Go to the Drivers and download page, and select your OS.

Download all files under the chipset. Boot into Safe mode and install both of the drivers with the chipset first.

It appears that some how the devices are not being recognised.
