If you have media direct, insert this disk first(reboot and hit f12 select boot from disk). It will set the partitions on the hard drive.
1)Insert the Vista cd,and reboot system.Hit f12 key at the boot screen>select boot from disk.
2)Vista will start the install, select option #2 (do not select the option to install OS on entire C: drive). This will take a while to install everything.
3)Now that it is installed, log on and set up vista with your screen name and everything.
Now insert the media direct disk again(in windows state) this will install the program.
4)Insert your dell utility disk and install your drivers.Install the first 3 in the exact order and reboot after each.
#1-Notebook System Software
#2-Chipset
#3-Video Card
Now install the rest of your drivers you will need the following>Audio>Ricoh(for the media card reader)>Broadcom(utility, and driver)>Conexant>Wireless card(which ever version you have)>Bluetooth>Synaptics touchpad,or Alps touchpad>Quickset(controls wireless and bluetooth radios)>And any that apps. you have listed under the applications tab(on dell download driver page)

Thank you very much.... But now, I don't have media direct disk as well as utility disk... It's lost.... So, how could I solve my problem without it
You can call dell to send you the disks for free.If you do not want to add the media direct back on,just get the dell utility disk. And in the instructions i sent you, skip the media direct installation parts and start with 1)Vista disk installation.Everything will still work the same without the media direct. But DO NOT hit the media direct button if you choose not to install this,as it will leave your laptop froze in a loop, and it is hard to get out of it.You can also use REGEDIT to set the media direct button to start a different app.

For now, you can get all the latest drivers available for your particular system, in the 'Support --> Drivers & Downloads' section on the Dell website.

Thanks a lot..... :emotion-2: Oh, I have many questions about Vista... Because you know,,,, I'm newbie, I don't know much about Vista....
So, is Vista 64 bit is good... and does it have SP2 yet?? and how could I create recovery partition for Vista....
Unless you know for SURE ALL of your peripherals have 64 bit support under a 64 bit operating system,i would stay with 32 bit.
If you know you can get support for all peripherals then go for 64 bit.The reason, there is still a lack of 64 bit support, but it is improving and 64 bit OS's are being offered with systems now.So support will be improving.
Creating a recovery partition is already set on dell systems on the D: drive. But you can create your own recovery points when you need to.Just open control panel>back up and restore. This will walk you thru setting restore points.

So, I've found so many version of Media Direct (2.0 ; 3.0 ; 3.5).... So, My XPS M1330 could be run with any version ???
And I also have a big question for you.... buddy !! :emotion-2: Why do we have to use Dell Media Direct to create patition instead of using
another software such as Acronis Disk Director.... Please tell me the why....? And AHCI and ATA, which is better...?
You do NOT have to use media direct to set the partitions, while the media direct app. is a part of Dell PC's for watching/viewing media without having to start up into windows. It is not a partition set program, what i mean by this is,media direct is set on the HPA (hidden partition) that is why dell PC's with earlier version of media direct(V 2.0 3.0) can't clone the HDD on the fly. That is basically it.You can use Acronis if you wish but Dell PC's make it easier to chage HDD or,re-install by starting with the Media direct cd.
You can create your own partitions with Acronis,no problem. And as i posted earlier you can also use REGEDIT to set the Media Direct button to open/run another application.Dell will send you the media direct version that was originally shipped on your system, and the newer systems come with a version of media direct that do not need the hidden partition anymore, meaning you can use the app. in,or out of a windows state without problems.
If you are not using turbo memory then,AHCI is of NO use to you. However if your system does have Turbo memory installed, you would need AHCI.

I've just got Media Direct CD... Now, I'll tell you what I did:
1) I boot Media Direct Disk and create partition - chose option 2...
2) And now, I have 3 partitions : C as the primary and D: Logical and Media Direct's partition...
3) I installed Vista on Partition C..
4) The process finished and restarted
Now, the same error appeared again.... what's wrong...!!!!

However, you can also request backup discs from Dell :emotion-5:
