Try starting the computer in the safe mode, press F8 when you see the Dell Screen. Enter into the safe mode and use system restore from there and go back to when it worked.

Welcome to the forums :emotion-21:
Do you have a 'Dell Touchpad' tab in your Control Panel/Mouse properties window?
You should be able to enable it there?
If you don't have that tab, you'll need to download/reinstall the touchpad drivers - from the 'Drivers & Downloads' page for the Inspiron 1525.
You'll find a 'Drivers & Downloads' link at the bottom of this page - under 'Support' :emotion-5:

I did manage to to maneuver, using Up and Down arrows, to Touchpad in Device Manager but cannot 'click" to
change settings. Also unable to maneuver enough to download/reinsntall touchpad drivers. I'm stuck!!

You can also use the "enter" button on the keyboard for the left click,
and you can also go to the internet like so:
Windows button
and then go to "run" and type in "firefox.exe" and that will start firefox browser.
Use the tab key to navigate to the address line and type in dell touchpad driver
and then go to the site and keep using the tab key until you get to the link....
It's doable...trust me....

Thank you. No success yet. I have Windows Vista with IE browser. Since Touchpad (in Devic e Manager) is turned off,
I could resolve problem if I could maneuver enough to turn it back on but all the Enters, Tabs, and Up and Down arrows will
not quite get me to the final "click". Any other suggestions? Thanks very much.

Try a cheap wired USB mouse to be able to work till you solve the problem.
