wow I didnt know antec made a notebook cooler (and its the best looking one I've seen, not to mention slimmest and smallest)... it'd work good as a pad too (something to set the laptop on), kill 2 birds with 1 stone.  I'll probably get one..

That thing is VERY expensive! If I add in shipping and Canadian taxes, It would come to around 80 bucks! I paid about $40 for my coolpad (with the swivel base). I think if a person has to resort to using external fans to cool their lappy; then, they need to question the quality of the product. Notebooks are bound to get hot under maximum stress, but if they are overheating, I would think there's a problem which needs to be addressed.
That being said; if it makes you happy and brings you piece of mind to own such a gadget - go for it!

Randy, did you buy your coolpad online? I'm thinking of getting one, since I might be replacing my coffee table with a large ottoman, and since I use my laptop there most of the time, I'd like something to put it on, so it's on a flat surface. I assume you got the podium one, from your pricing? I think the travel one might be good enough for me, since I don't really want much of an incline. And it looks from their site like both are about the same size, footprint-wise.

What if you're running your laptop on a Port Replicator? How does this cooling unit work with the APR? Do you put the unit under the APR?

You just have to look around for the best price.  Micro Center (http://www.microcenter.com) carries it for $31.99.  And luckily I live near one so I'll pick one up.  Antec makes great cooling products, and this one is versatile.  To question the product's reliablity with heat--we all know these Dells DO have problems!

I need a pad anyways for my laptop when its on my lap at home.

you can find them at Bestbuy, Stapples, Fry's. My laptop doesn't get hot, but it's nice to have some extra air flowing to keep things cool.

I personally own one of those and i'd have to say that it does a good job cooling off the heat coming from where the memory chips area.

No. I bought it at CompuSmart; a computer store in Vancouver. It's pretty cool (no pun intended ) It has little, round plastic columns that interlock; so, you can have it on an incline up to about 21/2 inches or almost flat. I think the swivel is a nice feature. Although I've had my notebook on my lap (no coolpad) for up to 3 hours, the 'pad' is nice on a/c when playing very demanding games.

Have you ever used this coolpad with a "15" inch notebook

mine is 14.1, it's just the right size, but I think it fits the 15" as well.

Thanks, Randy. I'll have to see if my local CompuSmart has them.

I guess no one is running an APR, or tried to use this with an APR.

I have the Cool Pad and I use it on an Inspiron 3500. I paid $19.95 at Staples. Works great and the swivel is nice if you're showing others your screen for presentations, etc. You can read about it here: http://www.roadtools.com/
