Tech Support "NOT" PC TuneUp Software by Dell or iolo?????

Simply read this last email exchange between me and iolo tech spt regarding their own software BUT sold under DELL PC TuneUp.  Draw your own conclusions.  In addition, I've found Dell very difficult to have any communicative contact and absolute disregard of my request for support, advice, guidance.  If you don't have the "HOLY GRAIL" Dell order/case number, YOU DON"T EXIST!

OK!  I don't think you get what is going on here between iolo and Dell.  No
one
is taking responsibility of support for the end user or the software.
This is VERY frustrating!  Your recommendations to Dell Support are an
absolute waste of time as they will NOT even talk to end users of this
product.  I have done my research and found this to be a chronic customer
service and lack of support problem, per the volume of internet posts.

Please take the time to review my entire file history, I know it is
extensive.  Both iolo and Dell keep pointing the finger at each other as
being the responsible party with neither taking ownership.

I appreciate your follow up and would appreciate help.  I find it
interesting we are running into the same problems, yet on a completely
different computer.  I don't believe this is coincidence.

Again, I am looking forward to your assistance and solution.

Craig, I wish I had seen your post BEFORE I ordered PC Tuneup.  I started the order on the Dell website and got transferred to iolo, where I naively finished the transaction and paid through PayPal.  Besides my receipt from PayPal, I never received an acknowlegement from Dell or iolo.  I never received the activation code from Dell or iolo.  Over a period of the past 24 days, I have emailed and faxed iolo several times with no response.  Dell sends me to a phone number that rings and gets redirected to a busy signal.

This evening I lodged a complaint through PayPal to iolo.  If that doesn't work, I will lodge complaints with the BBB about iolo AND Dell.  Their behavior is bordering on fraud.

You never did say why you need tech support for this software... :emotion-18:

Does Iolo have a users forum for their software? You might try posting your problem there. Presumably Dell's version is exactly the same as the retail version...

PC Tuneup has caused several major problems with my Dell Inspiron 15 Windows 7 64 bit system.  It messes with the registry - deletes things that it shouldn't and this causes major issues.  For instance, it will keep deleting the registry entry for the Windows Backup Server (wbengine).  So Windows backup stops working - you have to go through a bunch of stuff to get the registry file back.

It also deletes or unregisters DLLs that actually are crucial to proper functioning of Internet Explorer printing.  I had to re-register many times until I figured out that really what I needed to do was prevent PC tuneup from running.

I actually paid money for this piece of.....so I'm going to try to get it back.  I can't use it - and no one else should either if they want a working system.

The software is junk.  I downloaded and ran a scan... The first item it reports as a problem is a an automatic start up of QTTASK.EXE in the registry.  I opened the registry and there is no startup item for QuickTime!  It also reported an error on my harddrive, CHKDSK did not report any errors when ran.  Its junk and Dell should be embarrassed to have its name attached to this software, when it does not actually work.

I was just about to purchase this software.

System Mechanic

I am glad that I read the reviews before I purchased.
