The bios cannot set the connection speed. This is regulated by the driver, so it has to be done in the OS.

Are you using a CAT5E or CAT6 cable?

Have you tried that cable between your laptop and the server? Gbit doesn't require crossover, so you can test the ability to connect at 1 Gbit between your laptop and the server with any (good) CAT5E or CAT6 cable (assuming your laptop has a Gbit NIC).

First i would like to thank you for your response...

What i mean is something like the settings you have for the DRAC in the remote access configuration utility where you set the settings for dedicated NIC configuration - you have a field where you set your LAN speed and duplex.

I was wondering if there was some kind of configuration utility for NICs when at the machine is startup ... ? ....I will re-check the cable too thank you.

Regards,

Mitch

The DRAC is a minicomputer inside the server. You can't really reach it's "OS" as such, so you change it's settings in the bios or webpage (configuration page).

I have never seen an option in a bios to set the speed on a NIC.
