I can't help you any, but I had these SAME EXACT symptoms here while back, and I just went ahead because people said I had "Virus Like Symptoms".
You can go here:
http://housecall.antivirus.com and run a free virus scan, but when I had those symptoms, I couldn't get it to download the software to run the scan.
Please, If you find out what the problem is, send me an email.
Thanks

did you try to uninstall nortons and reload it? I had a not so good time before when I uninstalled nortons, and what I had to do was manualy uninstall it. I didn't trust the norton's tool they have to remove everything about nortons. It's not hard to due and it's step by step instuctions and yes you have to go into your reg to get it all. Due to you don't know where the problem is but it has to nortons. But if not all you have to do is reload it and your no worst for wear. Just goto nortons site and print out the directions
The navw32.exe file is a part of Norton AntiVirus. If it is corrupted that is probably the reason you are unable to download the virus signatures. Your option is to reinstall Norton utilities, but if you don't have the CD for the application, you will have to purchase a replacement.
