;^) My XPS M1210 did that since the time that I bought it, used.  I found a very suitable replacement battery online through e-bay.  The battery in question is new, and not reconditioned.  It's also from China, but works just fine despite not being from Dell.

I recently used  http://www.pacificbattery.com/  and everything went great, though the reviews seem to either love them or hate them.

I have also read good reviews for:

http://www.level8technology.com

http://www.freshbattery.com

Pacific Battery was more, but that was for a genuine Dell battery, which I feel more comfprtable with.

If you always use the computer plugged into the power source and never use it with the battery alone, you can skip buying a battery, remove it when it fails and use just the adapter. Remember to always turn off the computer properly as you would a desktop. Never using the battery power alone and recharging regularly can cause early battery failure. If your computer is less than a year old and still under warranty, you might try contacting Support to see what they might do for you.

PS it is risky buying batteries on Ebay and I wouldn't recommend it, despite the good experience the other poster had.
