Will the scanner work in COPY mode ---- i.e., can you COPY something using the control panel on the printer?

Yes,it will be copy no problem from the control panel. It will also print without any issues. It is just scanning that is not working at all. When it comes to scanning there does not appear to be any communication between the PC and the device. Thanks

I can't tell you how to solve the issue but I can tell you that I had the same problem.  I have had the printer since 2007 and was able to scan but had issues with faxing.  Dell replace the fax board (I think) and then I couldn't scan any more.  I called tech support and they said that if this may occur after having the fax board replaced, and the only fix is to replace the entire unit.  Well, murphy's law, has it that my warranty expired the month before, so they weren't going to replace anything.  I wasn't going to go out and buy another machine, so I kept it because all other functions worked.  Since then I moved, and some how miracously, the scan function works.   Now I have an issue with the wireless.  I would have to say that I would not buy another Dell laptop or printer again.  If your warranty hasn't run out, call immediately and/or get the extended warranty.  Good Luck!

I'm connecting via USB, and I just got the printer so this is the first time I am trying to get everything set up.  Thanks,

Obviously, that means the scanner is functional. Are you connecting the 3115cn via Network or USB connection?

Did this ever work for you? If so, what might have changed? (updates? Added hardware? etc?)

Thanks,

I'm hoping you used the CD and performed a complete installation? (Setup.exe from the root of the CD?)

Can you provide a lot more detail on what it is you're seeing, not seeing, etc.

Screen shots would be especially useful.

Nope.... that either.

You may want to find out how to use some of the "features" (ha-ha) of this forum before you go much farther. Also, you can try posting files here. Use the "Upload" button (top right) to upload documents.

Nope, didn't work.

Are you using a graphics editing program? To capture just the "on top" window, press "ALT+print screen" and paste into an image editor, i.e., Paint.

You will need to resize the picture to no wider than 550 pixels. After you resize and save the picture, use the "media icon" in your reply (2 left of the smiley face) to browse and attach your picture.

ok, obviously I don't know how to cut-n-paste screen shots, here I've tried to use the insert media option to add a Word document that has the screen shots in them.  Thanks,

and here is a screen shot of the printer status when I try to scan from the printer console:
