Dell Studio 17 1735 Will not boot anymore

Question

I have a Dell Studio 17 laptop, the video inverter went out, I bought a new one and replaced it, laptop worked fine for 4 weeks.  Now when I go to turn it on it powers on, screen lights up but shows nothing, not the initial DELL screen with boot options, nothing.  It then beeps at me a few times and turns itself off.  I have taken the ram out and tried putting them in different slots, I have tried removing the hard drive and replacing it with a new one, and I have tried hooking it up to an external monitor and I get the same result every time.  I fear the motherboard has fried out on me. Does anyone have any idea what I can do or try?  Does anyone know where I can get a cheap motherboard or where I can maybe trade this laptop for a cheaper one that works?   PS For the price I paid for this laptop I can not believe all the problems I am having with it! From what I have read in the forums this is a common occurence too!

The beeps are the key to the error encountered. It's a BIOS beep code - look at the dell support site for the meaning. Before BIOS - the POST procedure outputs results to the keyboard lights.
