Win 7 Upgrade - XPS M2010

You will need to uninstall the last three programs for the install to proceed. I had to uninstall six programs, and didn't need to install anything after the install finished. I don't know if the install will go ahead with an uninstall or upgrade of the CRS program. You can try without doing anything. I had a successful upgrade, and only needed to reinstall Windows 7 compatible versions of several third-party software.

CSR BlueCore Devices: DELL Eastfold in DFU - CSR Driver 

I have been looking on the Dell Web Site for this Driver for 3 days and cannot find it.  Does anyone know where it is.  My Windows 7 Upgrade Avdivor said that the driver must be upgraded.   I cannot even find out what it mean of impacts.  Thanks.

I made a "clean install" of Windows 7 on my M2010 two weeks ago and it worked fine except for the following issues :

• the speakers stopped working. I fixed this by reinstalling the Sigmatel drivers available on the Drivers & Downloads for XPS M2010 page
• The webcam does not work (I am looking for a solution)
• the cordless mice does not work (I am looking for a solution)
• I sometimes get a warning when I boot that hard drive has integrity problems but I am not sure that Win 7 is the problem.

I found that it is quicker to start. Windows Media Player works better as well.

This thread started with setting up a RAID, and then developed much, much further, until Win7 upgrades (32 and 64bit) were finally resolved.

I upgraded using Windows 7 64-bit OS.   About 90% success, camera does not work, nor can it detect the external DVI port (I use an external monitor when running Vista).  Sound works.  Also found out M2010 did not have the TPM chip for bit-locker.  I was kind of disappointed thinking the M2010 was supposed to the top-of-the-line when I bought it.

Had to go back to Vista because I need dual monitor and could not find a driver anywhere to support external monitor.  I tried the latest AMD/ATI Radeon, Dell Vista 64-bit and Dell Vista 32-bit, none worked.

If you can live with just the interal notebook display, all other functions seem to work o.k. 

This I am afraid is typical of Dell. The XPS M2010 Community members have long been ovelooked and now are seen as "legacy". Dell was very happy to take our money at $2500+ a time promising us a desktop replacement then cowering behind the cry "it's a Laptop" as a defence for a/ not upgrading the  motherboard b/ fixing the bluetooth issue rather than blaming it on someone else.

The senior management should hang their heads in shame, no doubt some "pacifying admin type will offer a placating "non solution" like "have you contacted our (useless) customer service divsion. This is the same division that sent out Server Operating Discs instead of the Driver Discs for this machine- I have been waiting for over 3 months for this issue to be sorted out.

I now have an unstable machine that I cannot use properly -what a waste of money

I'm on this board today to post of a solution for the Dell M2010 Windows 7 (64 bit) Logitech (Quickcam 10) webcam solution. I'm doing a whole rebuild from Vista 32 to Win 7 64, and I got this working. So I thought I would return here, and simply post this for the searchable archives -- perhaps making a solution for some others.

First of, I got it working, although it's not currently working. During this install, I took it back down to format/partition and started it over. And I'm finding some challenges getting it working again. But I think I'll have it on the next reboot or so. Here's the process: Dell seems to not have Win 7 64 drivers. And Logitech doesn't have this camera anymore. So I downloaded a driver from this page: http://logitech-en-amr.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3428/related/1

..The last one on the list, named Logitech Webcam Software (LWS) 2.40 with Vid HD. You'll note that this will do all versions from XP on up, both 32 bit and 64 bit. So, after unpacking and loading that driver -- and I wish I had made notes on this as it would have made this much simpler for me on this one, but -- I loaded up the Dell Logitech Quickcam (which wouldn't work), and then did a "reinstall driver/browse from disk/ search c: and all subfolders" and it found the newly installed drivers. Beyond there, I think I had to run the Win 7 through the "troubleshoot" once or twice. But again, I did get it working; and as of this writing (again, hopefully moments away), I have the camera recognized in some screens, with Sigmatel speakers recognized. And I am hopeful that after this next reboot, it will have it.

I hopes this helps some others. If I can, I'll try and return here to repost.
