3110cn prints blank second page when duplexer connected Windows 7 x64 drivers

Question

Recently installed Windows 7, 64 bit, after upgrading from Vista 32bit.  My Dell 3110cn Colour Laser printed fine with the Vista 32 bit drivers.  I have the optional duplex unit installed.  I have the double sided option set by default so that multi-page documents use the duplexer. However, if I print a single page, for example from Word, the new 64 bit driver insists on feeding the page through the duplex unit, effectively printing both sides (even though the second side is blank), and incrementing the page count by 2, instead of 1 for every single sided page printed, and taking twice as long to print.  Obviously I can manually change the print driver settings, but this is not optimal. This was not the case with the Vista 32 bit driver - it correctly only printed a single side, when there was only one page to print, even when duplex was selected as the default. I am using the current driver for download from the Dell support site. (MR6 SW - x64 Drv, A06) Any way round this barring wait and see if the driver is ever fixed?  Any way to suggest this is a problem that needs fixing? (My printer is outside warranty support, so can't call them about it).

I don't have a duplex printer, but am alsp experiencing problems with the 64 bit driver. I've got Windows 7 64 bit o/s and when I try to print to 3110 from Word 2007, print job spools but doesn't actually print. I know it's the printer as I've succesfully printed to both HP and Epson printers using same configuration. I too can't contact Dell support as hardware warranty has expired. But this isn't HARDWARE - it's a problem with a driver Dell have recently released. Dell - can you please help??

I have the exact same problem with my Dell 5110cn.  Drives me crazy.  However, I've had the problem prior to Windows 7.  Its a waste of time and resources.  I remain hopeful of finding a solution.
