Could be for any of a number of reasons - just as you can pull a brand-new light bulb out of the box and have it be faulty, some hard drives will fail soon after they're put into use.
You can request a replacement system rather than a hard drive replacement within the first 21 days following shipment (though it'll take longer than simply having the drive replaced).

Contact Dell Support for help with a new computer. This is a user to user forum and you need Dell support and possibly a return authorization.

The hard drive has failed. Call Dell with the error and they will ship you a replacement.
