I've used the freeware version of Stardock's ObjectDock on system's in the past with no problems at all, and I've been using the Dell Dock since I bought this laptop in April 2008 (which includes a number of OS/dock reinstalls), with no problems at all.
So I'd be interested to know what specific "issues" you're referring to?

As their name suggests, they're simply 'docks'.
Docks are a means by which you can add shortcuts to open your most commonly used programs/games etc, without having to root through all the folders in the start menu, or in Program Files.
Stardock's 'WindowBlinds' on the other hand, is a shell replacement, but even it's not permanent.
Even after it's installed - you can elect not to use it, and revert to the default OS UI.
In fact there's no shell replacement program that I know of, which makes any changes to the UI/shell, that can't be undone.
Furthermore, anyone opting to use a shell replacement, would be foolish to use it, without first creating at least a new System Restore point, if not create a complete system backup/image of their hard drive :emotion-55:

I would debate this but for the purposes of my reply, that's

A UI Shell Replacement is a one-way-trip is the app permanently changes it, SR Point or no.
What I really wanted to know is if Dell backs this software on an under-warrranty machine ?
Well since Dell pre-installs this on most of the laptops that is sells i would say defiantly yes. Look if your that hung up about it don't use it. Dell installs it and supports it as it is available for download. Seems pretty clear to me

I'm not on the software itself although it may be flawed, not that I'm knockinf DELL or the nice folks at Round Rock, I would just like to know if it's comvered under warranty, is all - I will call Hardware Support and ask them.
