DVD drive not working on Inspiron 1545

Question

It was working & now when i put a CD or other disc in the drive makes the usual noises but nothing happens on screen & there's nothing visible in My Computer. Laptop is within warranty (only bought it last autumn) but can't livechat or get through to Dell. Any advice on what I can do?   emma

You're going to have to call or otherwise contact them if you want the drive replaced under warranty, which is what needs to be done.

Impossible to advise without knowing where you are - in the US, outside the US (where?) and whether you bought the system from Dell or a reseller like Best BUy, Staples, etc (in which case your service and support are through the store, not Dell).

Good point - thanks. I'm in the UK & bought from PC World. I'll try them directly....
