ETHERNET CONTROLLER ERROR

Hey, first off let me say thank you ahead of time for your help. I haven't found anything on google or such about this and I really need some help.

I am selling my desktop an Inspiron 537, just like anyone who sells a computer, they wipe the hard drive. Well, Dell got cheap on us and are no longer supplying out of the box CDs. Everything went fine, I know how to do a hard drive wipe, and I opened device manager and under other devices, ethernet controller has an error icon next to it. I've installed everything under network utilites on Dell's website and everything that has been provided on the drivers disc. I am at a complete stuck and I have to have it fixed by Thursday. Any help, let me know. I'm reinstalling windows vista and trying it like that, I was trying to install it on upgraded windows 7.

Also, I tried installing a netgear wireless adapter, which always worked fine up until now. It's not picking up my wireless network that I am currently using on my dell laptop. I tried chatting with someone online from Dell Tech but surprisingly he didn't seem to understand what was going on, as he kept repeating questions and it was causing a frustration on my behalf. If only they knew how to speak English.  Any help would be great, let me know!

Well, I put Vista 64bit back on and the network adapter worked again. I was able to get online and that solved that problem. I'm installing the Windows 7 update now so we'll see how that goes.
