DST Fan,

A few thoughts. Check your ActiveX My Internet Options, Security is Medium High, reset all zones to default level.

There are three versions of Internet Explorer. Click start, in search type Internet. You'll see something like this.

Use the Internet Explorer without the (64-bit). This is the 32-bit version of Internet Explorer and this supports Adobe Flash Player. See if this work first.

Mozilla Firefox, are you using any add-ons, like NoScript?

Did you try testing your Flash player?

Adobe Test Shockwave and Flash Players

Internet Explorer uses a different version than Mozilla Firefox uses, so you need both versions for each browser.

Download Latest Java you can test it, also.

If these things don't work, maybe you can provide a few links.

THANK YOU, Rick.  I will go through this list and try your suggestions (already re-installed and tested Java).  May take me a few days to figure everything out but will definitely post back if successful.  FYI, the URLs for the webcam streams that won't work on my laptop are as follows:

http://nationalzoo.si.edu/Animals/GiantPandas/

http://www.grousemountain.com/Winter/refuge/grizzly-bear-live-camera.asp

http://yellowstone.paulthompson.net/camchat/#StreamOnly

(I tried contacting the webmaster for Nat'l Zoo to ask for suggestions/help but did not get a reply)

Thanks again.

DST FAN,

You will need Windows Media Player 11 to be able to see these links.

http://nationalzoo.si.edu/Animals/GiantPandas/

http://www.grousemountain.com/Winter/refuge/grizzly-bear-live-camera.asp

Please note: You need Windows Media Player 11 or newer to view this feed.

http://yellowstone.paulthompson.net/camchat/#StreamOnly (Use Internet Explorer for this one) It uses Windows Media Player and ActiveX for video and Flash Player for chat.

If you want to view this in Mozilla Firefox, you need to use the IE Tab :: Firefox Add-ons

Besides what Pudgy has recommended ... check your Firewall (try turning it off completely as a test).  I had to "allow access" through the Firewall when I went to the Panda site for Private and/or Public locations.  Other than Windows Firewall do you have another firewall running (Norton, hardware)?

I have version 12 of Windows Media Player.  I tried to download 11 but I got an error msg that there is no download (assuming it's my Windows 7 situation).

Even when I copy and paste the URL into WMP it won't play.

As another thought updated Real Player.  Still can't download.

Checking the firewall situation next.  It's really odd b/c some live stream webcams I can view...these 3 just won't work no matter what I do.

Hi Rick,

I've gotten most of the way thru your list of suggestions.  Thank you, again.  So far, no luck.  :(

1.  Have checked the Active X.  Reset settings to default.  Nothing changed.

2.  Have tried the non-64 bit IE.  Nothing changed.

3.  Tested flash player and installed the latest versions.  Nothing changed.

4.  Tested and re-installed Java about 2 weeks ago so have not done that again.

5.  Trying to assess if I'm running no-script add-on on Firefox...so far it doesn't look like it but I'm not sure so I'm still checking.

I keep on trying!

Thank you, theflash.

I am checking into the firewall suggestion.  I think I found it on Windows but still checking my Norton.  When I spoke with the Norton person they told me there shouldn't be anything in their software that would be preventing the download of the live streams but still looking at my settings.

Thanks so much for your suggestions.

DST Fan,

To check your add-ons in Mozilla Firefox, click on tools, add-ons and in the column or new windows you will see all your add-ons. I use the All-In-One Sidebar, so mine will look a little different. See what add-ons you're using. Let me switch to Windows 7 and give it a try, I was using Vista.

DST Fan,

Sorry, I couldn't stay awake, worked all night.

On the top link, using Windows 7, I got this screen.

I had to add ad-ons with Mozilla Firefox. I had to click the manual add and download the files, then add then, but I did get all of them to work.

Try THIS ARTICLE for Norton. Norton is good at printer communications and I'm positive it's also blocking these webcam feeds.

Sadly, I never get this pop=up nor do I get an option to download any add-ons (I am not running "no script").  I'm pretty much a techno ignoramus so I'll just have to keep trying till I figure this out.  Good to know someone got it to work, though!  Amazing that the Dell Tech couldn't figure this out.  Not to mention frustrating.

Thanks again, Rick.

DST Fan,

Try turning off Norton and see if you can access this website. This will tell us if it's Norton blocking it.
