Go back to the IDE Controllers Properties and make sure that 'Current Transfer Mode' says Ultra DMA.If it is still running in PIO mode that is the problem. See my thread Choppy/Skipping Audio Workarounds for instructions on how to fix it. If it is already in DMA mode then take a look at the other tips in that thread.Start by determining whether you have an TS-L462C optical device.
If there is no problem with the computer except when you are copying from a cd, it might be normal for your computer. It might not be able to handle both functions at once.

it aslo happens when playing an audio data file ( .wav ) from a cd

i ended up finding a solution in this post

i uninstalled the IDE channel in the device manager and then l let it scan for hardware changes and reinstalled and its good now.
now in "multi-word mode dma 2"
