Odd, the exact same thing happened to my XPS-M1330 today. It worked fine on Friday, went to turn it on tonight, and I got nothing. Battery meter says fully charged. I'll plug the power supply into the wall and it lights up, but when I connect the cable to my M1330 the light goes out instantly -- with battery in or not.
My 6 month old XPS1730 will not turn on. When I push the power button nothing happens. No lights flashing...nothing. I tried it with the charger and without. It was working at my friends house today, then i put it in my car and drove 3 hours. When I got home I discovered this problem?
Have you tried removing the battery? After that you may want to try removing some of the other customer removable components, such as memory, optical drive, etc. One of those could be loose or causing a short that is keeping your system from shutting down.
You can find some basic troubleshooting steps on our support site, http://support.Dell.com. After that, if it doesn't work, your system is only 6 months old and you should be able to contact Dell and have a tech help you to troubleshoot the system. It could be a few different things and you'll need to troubleshoot to find out what is causing the problem.

Hopefully someone knows what's going on.
